Okta Single Sign-On

Setup instructions

  1. In Blocks Edit, next to your organization at the top, click the integrations icon (). Note: You’ll see the integration option only if you are an admin or owner on the account.
  2. Click the Add button next to Single Sign-On.
  3. If you would like, you can give your integration a name you can refer to, or just leave the default name.
  4. Use the Identity Provider drop down and select Okta. These will be the details you will need as you setup the Blocks Edit app connection in your Okta account.

Adding Blocks Edit to your Okta account

  1. Log in to your Okta account and click on the Applications in the top menu.
  2. Click the Add Application at the top. Then click on Create New App.

  3. In the window that comes up, choose Web as the platform and SAML 2.0 as the sign on method. And click Create

  4. Name your app Blocks Edit. And if you'd like, download the Blocks Edit logo to use as well. This will help your team find the app in their accounts to connect to.

  5. Click Next. This where you'll need to refer to your Blocks Edit SSO integration settings.
  6. Copy the Single sign on URL and Audience URI (SP Entity ID) fields from Blocks Edit, and paste them in their corresponding fields in Okta.
  7. Set Name ID format to Email Address and Application username to Email.

  8. Under Attribute Statements, add 2 fields: firstName with a value of user:firstName, and lastName with a value of user:lastName. These options will help make your team members' account creation easier.

  9. Click Next for the last step of creating your app.
  10. Select the I'm an Okta customer adding an internal app option. And make sure This is an internal app that we have created is also checked. And click the Finish button.

Connecting your Blocks Edit account to Okta

  1. After creating your Okta internal Blocks Edit app, you will be taken to a Sign On screen. Here you will need to get the identity provider metadata link. To do this look for Identity Provider metadata, right click on it, and then click Copy.

  2. Back in your Blocks Edit account, on the Single Sign-On screen, right click on the Identity Provider metadata field and click Paste.
  3. Click Save Settings on the Blocks Edit screen to update your integration.
  4. Your team will now be able to log in to your Blocks Edit organization using Okta. Either by assigning the Blocks Edit application to them, or by searching for Blocks Edit in their applications themselves.
