Blocks Edit layouts are how you can save a page layout to reuse as a starting point. A layout can be added/edited using the theme editor. Any layout that’s saved is then shown on the dashboard in a dropdown to start a new page from.

The process of setting up a blog, or any series of pages works around this same process. A user adds a new blog post via the layout dropdown on the dashboard, and it automatically becomes part of a collection from that layout.

Listings

Once you have a series of pages, you can output listings for them. For example, summaries of blog posts that link to their full versions. You can output listings of a collection of pages on any page, in any custom format.

Listings utilize the region repeat option to output content pieces from a page, like a blog post’s title, description, and post link. To set this up, you enable the region to use dynamic fields, and choose where the content fields come from, in this case, the blog posts layout. Then, you map the content pieces where you want them to output.

Listings will display on the page in both preview and edit modes.

Pagination

In your listing settings, you can decide how many items you want to display (or no limit). You can also split them into multiple pages, with how many you want per page. To included the added pages, you’ll need to setup your pagination links, and connect them to the listings via the pagination option. The number of pages needed will automatically be shown, and each linked.

You can browse the pages of listings in preview mode only.

This process simplifies the standard collections setup by automating collections when using layouts as post types, and with a visual field mapping interface to output your listings.

Take a look at the collections help doc for all the setup details.
